Jack Rabbit Hill - organically grown wines

Community
Visitors often ask us about other things to explore in our community, so here are some ideas:

For the best in organic apple juices and ciders, check out Big B’s in Hotchkiss. They have a store there that sells an assortment of fresh and processed organic foods from The North Fork. They also feature JRH wines and Peak Spirits organic eaux de vie and grappa. Hardin's and Orchard Valley Farms also operate great stores offering premium produce and wines from the North Fork Valley.  Check out Valley Organic Growers Association for a list of other great locally grown products and stores.

The North Fork Valley started establishing commercial orchards in the early 1900s, and is known as one of the finest fruit growing regions in the world. Some of our world-class organic fruit growers: Ela Family Farms, 1st Fruits Organic Farms, Cedar Edge Apples, Rogers Mesa Fruit, and Gunnison River Farms.

Gunnison River Farms is also the base for Black Canyon Anglers who can guide you on an unforgettable float down the Black Canyon. Track down the Hubbells at Outwest Guides if your interest is hunting or horseback riding in some breath-taking settings. And if you’re into extreme skiing, Telluride Helitrax can take you up into the best high alpine terrain anywhere in the lower 48.

Check out Sagebrush Books on Main Street in Montrose for  great collection of books about all things Colorado. Sagebrush also samples and sells JRH wines.

JRH also gets ideas for its operation from many other valuable sources you might want to check out: the Josephine Porter Institute and Demeter USA, to learn more about gardening using practical, biodynamic tools. And books on the subject we’d recommend: What Is Biodynamics?, Gardening for Life, Secrets Of The Soil, Alex Podolinsky’s Lectures, A Biodynamic Farm, Living Energies, and of course Wines from Sky to Earth.
