M&N 06 Estate Pinot noir/Pinot Meunier

M&N 2006 is an organically grown, estate blend of 45% Pinot Meunier and 55% Pinot noir, cropped at about 2.5 tons/acre from the Hill Block, the 13 acre vineyard south of the winery on the west side of the property. Since even moderate cropping can compromise the quality of Pinot noir, we limit yields to no more than 2.5 tons/acre. A combination of whole-berry and -cluster ferments produce a brilliant, dark ruby color and aromas of kirsch-like Montmorency cherry. In the cellar we used 2-month-old, unrinsed Chardonnay barrels (06 Upper East Side). The tasty lees from the Chardonnay add to M&N's rich texture. Soft tannins on the finish. Aged 10 months in 2-month-old Upper East Side 06 Chardonnay barrels. 14.25% alc.

Barn Red 06 Estate Blend

Sometimes we get a little carried away in our blending trials. Around our kitchen island last fall, what started out as a discreet blend of Cabernet Franc & Foch (like Barn Red 04) kaboomed into a monster blend: Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, a little Merlot, and good ol' Foch. Die-hard Barn Red drinkers are in for a little surprise. Organically grown at JRH and cellared 14 months in 2 and 3 yr old french oak. 13.75% alc. The genie got out of the bottle on this one.

Wild Rose 07 Estate Rose

No bubble-gum rose here; we think this one's more like a rose from Bandol. Color like a fall sunset on the Sangre de Cristos, bold & dry with notes of fresh strawberry and rasberry. Really long, structured finish. 100% Foch organically grown at JRH. No oak. 13.50% alc.

Lone Eagle 07 Estate Riesling Traminette Blend

60% Riesling, 40% Traminette. Not Traminer. Traminette. We're always looking to try new things so we planted this variety in the lower west side 4 yrs ago. It loves our intense, sunny falls...and it clearly loves Riesling! This is a paring we'll end up doing again and again, every bit as expressive as Lone Eagle 06, but with a longer, more minerally finish. All organically grown at Jack Rabbit Hill. No oak of course. 14.1% alc.

Sauvignon Blanc 07 Cox Family Vineyards

A stainless Sauv Blanc that really shows the aromatics of pure Sauvignon Blanc (thanks, Ben). Faced with a lean 07 harvest because of hard spring frosts, we needed to source fruit from other vineyards and with the help of our friend Ben Parsons were able to source this excellent fruit from Brian Cox up in Palisade. Light but sturdy mouthfeel at %12.75 alc. A perfect outdoor treat.
